Welcome to Aspire Better Families. 

My name is Duarn.

The Aspire vision started as I saw from personal experiences the benefit of a hands-on holistic approach towards disability community support roles. By helping those who need a little extra support succeed and grow on their own terms, in their own time, I’ve found that the end goal of self-sufficiency is a little easier to reach. Everyone deserves a chance to live a bountiful and content lifestyle, we’re here to make that a reality. 

Starting from a place of trauma I found my passion was helping others. When I was 15, I was involved in a serious car accident that left me partially paralysed and comatose, my odds weren’t favourable. When I woke to the world, I found myself in a situation of needing support 24/7, this included physical therapy. While working with the physical rehabilitation department I found a love for disability physical therapy and support work. The moment I healed and was at working compacity I knew what I needed to do. I got the qualifications and rented a small office room to start my own Massage therapy and Personal Trainer business focusing more on those with physical and mental difficulties. 

During this time, I was lucky enough to be asked to assist some Occupational Therapists, who worked in the same building, with a lovely family living with disabilities for physical training, in self-regulation and core strength. This opportunity opened the world of NDIS and Support Work to me and prompted me to expand my business with a bigger picture in mind, leading to today.

I've had many careers and odd jobs, from Massage Therapist to Construction, some I continue to this day, but nothing has made me feel quite as proud as this company and the service we provide. My previous trades allow me to provide qualified physical fitness training and remedial massage to you if you so wish. I’m a jack of all trades, master of none if I do say so. 

I’m a rather busy man so my recreational time is spent living it up and having a great ol' time, mentally clocking off, with friends and family. My ducks, fishing, long road trips, shopping, getting my hands dirty and DIY home projects are my distractions from life. I love adventures and I’m more than willing to try anything you can come up with. 

I’m a lover of sport, played AFL my whole life and coached many age and skill groups, only stopping 3 years ago due to injury. I come from a family of Competitive Ballroom Dancing that has given me a deep respect for all types of sports and has also allowed me to travel competitively throughout Australia. 

My biggest rock in life will always be my children, my girls are my world and without them I wouldn't be the driven man I am today. They have helped me be a better person with their guidance and support and nothing would make me happier than to show them how far people can go with simple support and gentle assistance. 

A huge goal of mine is to remain a constant in your life, a constant support, ear, and comfort. I'll work with you to find what plan fits your needs, and what services will help you persevere.

Hello, I am Chandese, 

A busy, life-loving mother of 4, and what you could call a Jill of all trades. As a child I enjoyed many fields of competitive dance and enjoyed the outdoors. These days I still love exploring the outdoors and holidaying with my family. 

I’m a self-motivated, patient, creative and enthusiastic person who enjoys growing the minds, and capabilities of young people to live fulfilling and self-successful lives. Helping them meet their dreams and goals. I love to support people in creating easier, more positive, and enjoyable life experiences. 

I am a hairdresser of 18 years still working in the industry every second weekend. I enjoy the fast-paced, joyful environment where I can incorporate a level of creative flair to exceed my client’s requests and expectations where they have an experience and service that they are truly happy with.

I am also a highly passionate educator with a bachelor’s degree in education with 10 years of experience as a teacher. This holds my interest in engaging and growing young people to be lifelong learners and the best version of themselves, while learning and growing with them. 

I have experience teaching in both high school and primary school environments in a range of school settings. I live with and work with children with disabilities and I enjoy my days working as a teacher in a Special school. I have experience with a range of communications and working with students who use a range of communication other than verbal. Being able to adapt communication techniques through Verbal, AAC, PODD, and AUSLAN allows me to believe if you can truly hear a student, you can learn how to reach them where they are. 

With the love of part-time teaching and with recently extending and finishing my family, as I still raise my little people, I have joined the Aspire Better Families team. Where I utilise my knowledge and skills from a vast variety of paths to contribute to assisting our wonderful team, support workers, clients and families, and implementing support planning ultimately sharing and extending skill sets and knowledge.
